Gregory M. Reichberg is Research Professor at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). He is a philosopher specializing in military ethics and is currently engaged in a multi-year project on the use of artificial intelligence in armed conflict. He also writes on linkages between religion, peace, and conflict. For the last eight years he has led the Research School on Peace and Conflict, an academic consortium for doctoral students. From 2009-12 he was director of the PRIO Cyprus Centre in Nicosia, where he coordinated research and dialogue activities on the search for a political settlement to the island's division. Over the last fifteen years he has been engaged in religious dialogue on social/political issues in Iraq and other settings. Reichberg is a consultor to the Dicastery for Integral Human Development (appointed by Pope Francis in 2020).

Reichberg's writings include a monograph Thomas Aquinas on War and Peace (Cambridge University Press, 2017). He has also published several co-edited volumes, including Robotics, AI, and Humanity: Science, Ethics, and Policy (Springer, 2021), Religion, War, and Ethics: A Sourcebook of Textual Traditions Cambridge University Press, 2014); World Religions and Norms of War (United Nations University Press, 2009); and The Ethics of War: Classic and Contemporary Readings (Blackwell Publishing, 2006). His most recent publications include “Scholastic Arguments for and against Religious Freedom," in The Thomist, 2020; "Human Nature, Peace, and War," in A Cultural History of Peace in the Medieval Age, 800-1450 (Bloomsbury, 2020); “Reframing the Catholic Understanding of Just War” Journal of Religious Ethics, 2018; “Historiography of Just War Theory,” in The Oxford Handbook of Ethics of War, 2018; “Charles Journet on the Impossibility of Christian Holy War,” Nova et Vetera (English edition, 2018); and “Jacques Maritain – Christian Theorist of Non-violence and Just War,” Journal of Military Ethics, 2017. He has also published several co-authored papers including, "Applying AI on the Battlefield: The Ethical Debates", in Robotics, AI, and Humanity (Springer, 2021); “Large Scale Investment Management: The Peace Potential of a Sovereign Wealth Fund,” in Business, Peacebuilding and Sustainable Development (Routledge, 2019), and “Threats and Coercive Diplomacy: An Ethical Analysis,” in Ethics and International Affairs, 2018.
