Summary of scientific research
His research and writing covers areas in human rights, comparative constitutional law, European and Latin American legal systems, and public international law. It has focused in particular on a set of foundational principles of human rights including human dignity, democracy, subsidiarity, solidarity, and the common good. Since 2012 he has been the Director of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies, an interdisciplinary research center focused on the themes of democracy and human development. His current work revolves around the relationships between law, education, and integral human development.
