Faith-Consistent Investing for a Global Church

A Conference at the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences at the Initiative of the Mensuram Bonam Initiative Foundation

Faith-Consistent Investing for a Global Church

This conference will bring together representatives from Catholic Bishops’ Conferences, Catholic Religious Institutions, and experts from the faith-consistent investing (FCI) community to discuss the evolution of investment guidelines of Bishops’ Conferences and of Mensuram Bonam, to describe FCI commonalities and to share experiences regarding the implementation of FCI Guidelines and best practices.

The conference is inspired by Pope Leo’s call for a culture of encounter, in this case between our faith tradition and the investment world.

Faith-Consistent-Investing is a growing movement, but many investment committees are still looking for more clarity or guidance. Convinced that FCI must be firmly rooted in the Gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ, accompanied by prayer and discernment, we seek to be in dialogue with one another on how to “make straight in the desert a highway” for those seeking to align their patrimony/investment with their mission/vocation as Christians and their faith/charism.

The conference will pursue the following five objectives and questions:

  • Share research and reflections on Bishops’ Conference FCI guidelines and Mensuram Bonam. We would like to identify areas of collaboration to bring more unity to the FCI approach of the Catholic Church.
  • Share lessons learned regarding the implementation of FCI guidelines. What can Bishops’ Conferences, Dioceses, Religious Congregations and FCI-practitioners learn from one another given their respective environments and experiences?
  • Share and debate global best practices and innovations in the areas of engagement and enhancement to make these aspects more tangible. How can best practices be proliferated and scaled across the Universal Church?
  • Consider how the content and debates at the conference can serve as

  • Expand the global network of Mensuram Bonam ambassadors and practitioners who are willing to assist individuals seeking to adopt FCI guidelines or enhance the work undertaken to date.
